NOTICE OF RACE - AVIS DE COURSE
DATESThe French Tempest Master (Pre-World) shall take place on Saturday 28 August 1999 and Sunday 29 August 1999 The International Tempest World Championship shall take place from Monday 30 August 1999 to Saturday 04th September 1999 ORGANIZING AUTHORITYThe 34th International Tempest World Championship is organised by the Fédération Française de Voile (FFV) in conjunction with the Club Nautique of Saint Raphaël (CNSR) and the International Tempest Association (ITA). RULESThe event will be governed by: Racing Rules of Sailing 1997-2000, the prescription of the FFVwhen they apply, Class rules and World Championship rules of Tempest Class (except as any of these are changed by this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions), this notice of race and the sailing instructions. ELIGIBILITYThe ISAF Eligibility Code shall apply The Tempest World Championship rules 3.3 is modified as follow : " The number of participating yachts will be unlimited ". The Tempest World Championship rules 3.1 and 3.2 shall be observed. ADVERTISING PENALTIESAlternative penalties, 720°, will apply. ENTRIESThe entry fee is FF 920. or euro 140. or CH.F 230. INSURANCEAll competitors shall have cover against third party liabilities and shall be able to produce written proof of this in English or French. The FFV recommends that all competitors are taking up a third party liability insurance policy for a cover-amount of FF 30,000,000.00 or Euros 4,573,470.00 . By subscribing to a FFV-licence at a cost of FF 230, the licence holder will automatically be covered for this liability amount. The FFV licence can be taken up at the registration office. The race organisers shall not be liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the owner/competitor, his or her skipper or crew, as a result of their taking part in the race or races. Moreover, every owner/competitor warrants the suitability of his or her yacht for the race or races. The provision of safety equipment and boats by Club Nautique de Saint Raphaël is neither a guarantee that assistance can be rendered to any competitor in need, nor acceptance of any responsibility for rescue of competitors. Further, in the event that assistance is rendered to any competitor, no liability for any loss, damage or injury to the competitor and/or the boat and its equipment is accepted by either the Club or the crew of such safety craft. Neither the establishment of these conditions, their use by the race organisers, nor the inspection of the yacht under these conditions in any way limits the absolute responsibility of the owner/competitor. The crew is nonetheless advised to satisfy itself as to the experience of the skipper and the adequacy of all safety equipment and insurance arrangements. The attention of all competitors is drawn to International Racing Rules, Racing Rule 4 - "Competitors Responsibilities - It shall be the sole responsibility of each yacht to decide whether or not to start or to continue to race". MEASUREMENTRules 5.1 to 5.7 of The Tempest World Championships rules apply. Boat measurement certificates shall be brought to the measurement. Measurement will be held on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th August between 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m as well as Sunday 29th from 9:30 a.m to 12:00 a.m. COURSESThe races will be sailed in or out of the Saint Raphaël Bay. Olympic Type Course for the French Master and Super-Olympic Type Course for the World Championship as described in the appendix of the World Championship sailing instructions. Rules 6, 8 and 16 of the Appendix - Championship Sailing Instructions of the World Championship Rules of the International Tempest Association are changed in accordance with the voting result at the last Annual General Meeting of the International Tempest Association. Schedule of races are described below. The " bonus point system " in accordance with RRS 88.3 and A 2.1 shall be used. The number of races are six for the French Master. If the number of races is less than three, the French Master will be not considerated valid. The number of races are nine for the World Championship. If the number of races is less than four, the World Championship will be not considerated valid. If less than six races have been held by Friday evening, the Saturday will be used as a Reserve Day. CRANINGCraning in will take place on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th of August from 9.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m. and Sunday 29th of August from 9.00 a.m to 5.00 p.m. SCHEDULE OF RACE AND SOCIAL EVENTS
